A morning in the practice instead of school

Which profession is right for me? Do I want to do an apprenticeship or rather study? We will help you with your orientation and provide insights that are fun: Get to know the daily work routine at Fraunhofer UMSICHT with us!

You want to take a look at the working world and find out what makes a profession? With an internship with us, you will gain new experiences, be able to try out your skills and get a first impression of what it's like after school.

At the same time, you can get a sense of different professions and courses of study and think about what might suit you. In short, after the internship, you will definitely know more and be a big step closer to deciding what to do after school!

We offer internships to pupils for career orientation in the following areas: science (natural and engineering sciences), IT, commercial or technical/vocational fields.

Tip: The number of internship positions is limited. We therefore recommend that you apply online via our careers portal three months before you plan to start your internship. Be sure to state the area in which you are interested!

For occupational safety reasons, internships with practical experience in the laboratory are only possible for those aged 18 or over.

Are you enthusiastic about science and technology? And are you very interested in environmental protection issues? Then we would like to meet you at the Fraunhofer Talent School!

Behind this is a multi-day workshop format for students in grades 9 to 13. Together with scientists from Fraunhofer UMSICHT, you will develop solutions to challenges in the areas of the environment and sustainability. Specifically, the range of topics extends from microplastics to 3D printing to the Internet of Things.

“Join in and get involved” is the motto of Girls'Day at Fraunhofer UMSICHT: For one day, female high school students can try out what everyday life is like in applied research. In addition to practical work in the areas of environmental, safety and energy technology, there is also the opportunity to ask female scientists about their experiences and how they got into research.
