We provide freedom through tailor-made services, contribute scientific, technical and administrative expertise to research work, look after 4500 m2 of laboratory and pilot plant station space and are an active partner in the scientific and economic exploitation of research results.
Personnel and Finances
The most important resource of Fraunhofer UMSICHT is motivated and qualified employees. In order to meet the diverse challenges within an institute of applied research, we have developed an integrated personnel management system that forms the basis of our value-oriented personnel work. By this, we mean the shaping of the framework conditions in accordance with the person’s phase of life – from the high-quality qualification and further development of our employees to active support for individual career design through to needs-based working time models.
We control an annual turnover of more than €40 million and provide project management, executives and the directorate of the institute with all relevant information. Administering funded projects is one of our main tasks. With our commercial and administrative competence, we support our scientists and project partners throughout the entire project cycle, from project initiation and implementation to project completion.
Technology and analytics
Fraunhofer UMSICHT has an extensive technical infrastructure, consisting of workshops and pilot plants, which is closely linked to a widely diversified laboratory infrastructure. Here, interdisciplinary teams from science and technology work on a wide range of analytical, chemical, biotechnological, physical and material-related issues.
The employees in the Organization division contribute their scientific, technical and administrative expertise to the R&D projects and work with and for our scientific departments. In this way, we cover a wide range of services and operational activities, from developing new analytical methods to planning and implementing complex experimental and demonstration plants.
Technology marketing and communication
With a professional mix of marketing and communication, we contribute to the clear positioning and visibility of Fraunhofer UMSICHT in the scientific, economic and public environment. This also includes funding and advising our scientists with regard to scientific publications.
In addition, we systematically support technology transfer at Fraunhofer UMSICHT by continuously expanding the central transfer paths of contract research, IP commercialization (patent exploitation), spin-offs and further education. We advise our scientists when identifying the optimal exploitation path for the respective technology and in promoting the targeted exploitation of the research results.
