Tasks

Media and information services specialists support the provision, administration and maintenance of media stocks. Core tasks include lending media, assisting customers with research requests and organizing and indexing information materials.

Requirements

Enjoy dealing with customers, diligence, organizational skills, ability to work independently, good text comprehension and expressiveness, interest in media and data, ability to work in a team.

Training finished – what’s next?

After completing their training, media and information services specialists specializing in libraries usually work in public or academic libraries.

However, there are also some special libraries such as the Fraunhofer UMSICHT's specialist information department where the specialists can work. Reorientation to another specialty such as archives is also possible.
