From ammonia synthesis to electrolysis and heat supply: Solutions for the energy transition and raw materials shift

E-world energy + water 2025

North Rhine-Westphalia booth (Hall 3 | Booth 3R120)

How does electrolysis make its way into industrial application? What needs to be considered when transforming the heating supply? And how can ammonia be produced and split more efficiently to realize its potential as a storage and transport medium for hydrogen? Answers will be provided by the UMSICHT researchers at the E-world energy & water 2025 from February 11 to 13, 2025 in Essen. They can be found at the joint North Rhine-Westphalia booth (Hall 3 | Booth 3R120). In addition, some of them will be giving speeches at the "Fraunhofer-Forum Energiezukunft".

Electrolysis technologies for industrial application

At the E-world, you will have the opportunity to get to know the electrolysis technologies we have designed hands-on. Our services include the design and development of electrochemical reactors, material and component development and manufacturing for electrolysis cells, material and component testing for electrolysis cells, and the evaluation of electrolysis technologies.

More efficient production and splitting of ammonia

Fraunhofer UMSICHT is working on more energy-efficient synthesis and cracking processes using electricity from renewable sources. Particularly noteworthy are the electrochemical ammonia synthesis and the plasma-based ammonia synthesis. The focus of the trade fair appearance is the Fraunhofer flagship project "AmmonVektor" with the goal of providing green ammonia as a decentralized, cross-sector energy vector for the German energy transition.

Transformation of the heating supply

As part of the E-world, the Fraunhofer Energy Alliance invites you to the accompanying event "Fraunhofer-Forum Energiezukunft" on February 12 (Congress Center West I, Brüssel Room, 2nd floor). Future technologies of energy supply will be presented. The UMSICHT researchers are represented in the focus topic "Heat Supply | Heating Networks”.
